G3 DL380 w/RH 2.1 AS; Trunking/Teaming NIC ports

G3 DL380 w/RH 2.1 AS; Trunking/Teaming NIC ports

I need to configure teaming (or trunking) using both on-board Gb NIC ports. I apparently need "basb" driver from a RPM source. Can't seem to find it from the WEB. Could someone send me a URL or the driver needed to support the above hardware. Instructions would be helpfull as well.

Re: G3 DL380 w/RH 2.1 AS; Trunking/Teaming NIC ports

You should use the following:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20073.html

It works with all kinds of nics and it is easy to setup, plus HP supports it. Please read bonding.txt included with the rpm.

The "basp" package is specific to Broadcom nics.

If you really want it, you can get it from the following:

http://www.broadcom.com/drivers/downloaddrivers.php?cookiecheck=1

Re: G3 DL380 w/RH 2.1 AS; Trunking/Teaming NIC ports

Found it, got it loaded. When I doo mii-tool I get:

eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok
eth1: negotiated 100baseTx-FD flow-control, link ok

is it really 100baseTx-FD, shouldn't show something like: 1000base-Tx-FD.

Do I need to run "ethtool" and force the speed and then will it be saved permanently or do I need to us "insmode" with the line_speed=1000?

When I get to the bonding part does the team using one IP address? or do I need to configure with IP addresses assigned to each NIC

Thanks for your help
