G3 NIC Settings

G3 NIC Settings

We are having issues when we set our DL380 G3 NICs to 100/full and the coresponding Cisco switch ports to 100/full. They flood the ports and shutdown. The only fix is to use AUTO on the G3 NIC.

The previous G2's had no problems.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks

Re: G3 NIC Settings

You cannot compare both servers:
- the DL380G2 has Intel 10/100 NICs
- the DL380G3 has Broadcom 10/100/1000 NICs
So connecting the G3 server to a 10/100 backbone seems like a waist of bandwidth.

I would also recommend to update the NIC drivers and Teaming Utility to the latest version (PSP 6.40).

Auto setting is always recommended anyway.

Re: G3 NIC Settings

We have experienced similar problems with three new DL380 G3's. I ended up having to set the switch to auto sense and the server NIC to 100 Half. We are currently investigating this further with both Cisco and HP.
When we had the server set to Auto and the cisco switch set to 100 Full the info on the NIC said that it was connected at 100 Half
