G3 or G4 hardware migration to G5 servers
1. New hard drives
2. New raid controller technology
The question is, how are you going to migrate to new hardware with SAS from old hardware with parallel SCSI?
In the past, we would either just swap in the old drives into the new server or connect an external drivecage to the scsi bus and (ghost, dd or some other method) do a copy from one raidstack to another.
How are you going to do this in the future? Will there be a way to connect a PCI serial scsi card an external drivecage to the G3/G4 servers, copy the files and then put the drives in the new G5 hardware?
What does HP suggest we do, as even the last big scsi change was not a new technology, but just form factor of the drive, and was easy to get around.

Re: G3 or G4 hardware migration to G5 servers
I need a hardware solution like we had before.
Hopefully HP wasnt so boneheaded they did not have an option for non-M$ operating systems
