Getting HP hardware MIBs for HP Insight agents

Greetings,

I was requested to configure a DL server to forward HW traps to an external SNMP application.
I have already successfully configured the SNMP service to forward traps to an external machine where I have installed an SNMP trap receiver.

I was now asked to get the HP HW MIBs.

I believe the agents are:

HP Insight Foundation Agent
HP Insight NIC Agent
HP Insight Server Agents
HP Insight Storage Agents

Where can I get the MIBs for these SNMP agents?

Any help/suggestion is highly appreciated.

TIA.

Kind Regards,

Rui.

Hello Rui

Try to get hold of Management CD part of proliant Essentials foundation Pack. in that there is a folder called TOOLKIT there you can find the MIBs.

Re: Getting HP hardware MIBs for HP Insight agents

Hi Robin,

Many thanks for your contribution.

I have loaded the MIBs on my trap receiver. I am now preparing a short (non destructive) test list in order to validate that traps are properly forwarded.

Beside unplugging and plugging the LAN cable, I don├в t know much more (non destructive) HW events that will trigger a trap├в ┬ж

As usual any help/suggestion is highly appreciated.

TIA.

The Insight agents control panel applet has a "send test trap" feature.

Hi,
Other safe way to generate events is to remove power cable from one of redudent hotplug power supply. It will generater major catagory event withot any problem to your server.

Re: Getting HP hardware MIBs for HP Insight agents

Hello Rui,

what David pointed to was the HP Insight Agents applet in the Windows Control Panel.
You should have such a icon added in the control panel on the server that runs the Insight Agents and under the SNMP settings TAB their is a possibility to manually send a test trap.

This is a generic test trap message and does not allow to send every existing trap in the list of traps that are available unfortunately if that is your goal.

Other non destuctive tests you could do is
remove/insert redundant hotswap disks if you happen to have a system with raid controller. This will generate several traps from different agents/sources.
