Ghosting a Compaq ML300 Server
I am trying to ghost a server which is using the standard SCSI controller. However when using ghost 7.0 it always seems to want to create a 17Gig image file. I only have about a gig of data on the drive. I have tried many ghost command line options without success. It appears as if it is doing a raw sector by sector dump. How can I get ghost to do a proper image?
Servers a great

Re: Ghosting a Compaq ML300 Server
Is your filesystem NTFS? I am using Ghost 6.5 and I essentially get the same issue, although my boot partition is set to 4Gb,You can select high compression and start the dump to your ghost server,or you can attach a tape drive and ghost to it so you don't run out of space. Symantec has instructions on doing the tape drive clone.
Hope this helps,
Jose

Re: Ghosting a Compaq ML300 Server
Found the answer from symantec tid called "ghost compatibility with Raid" basically I had to break the mirror and run ghost with the ntiid switch, worked a treat !!
