Gigabit Network cards in older Compaq Servers

I've got two old Proliant servers an ML530 and an ML370. I want to update the NIC cards to take advantage of our new network (CISCO) infrastructure. Have got a 7770 and a 7771 adaptors available, can these be used ? Both machines are on the latest BIOS.

Sean:

Either of these NIC's will work in the ML370 & ML530:
"The NC7170 supports 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet speeds as well as a PCI-X 64-bit/133MHz Interface, and it is backwards compatible with existing PCI bus architectures."

ML370:

ML530:

Enjoy!

Re: Gigabit Network cards in older Compaq Servers

while i have not used these specific cards, i did have a Proliant 6000 (quad Pent-Pro 200) with not one but two compaq gigabit fibre cards. the fibre-optic ethernet cards supported both 33 and 66 mhz pci, at 32 and 64 bits. they ran quite happily until the server was finnally retired after 5 years in service.
There have been Innumerable people who have helped me. Of course, I've managed to piss most of them off.
