Guidance Reqd:- Bootable USB Keys & Firmware CD's/Smartstart CD's

Guys, I am new to this, so was looking for help on how to get the Firmware CD's/Smartstart CD's working from bootable USB keys rather than burning the ISO images to CD's...

Is this possible & if so, can someone help me get these booting from USB key..
