HDD Activity LED always on [DL380G4]
Dear All,,
Recently, we've bought an some HP servers with following configuration:
DL380 G4
2*Xeon3.6, 2G RAM, 2*72G 15K SCSI HDD
Tape DAT72 HotPlug,Smart Array 61 Controller
The HDD drives are configured in RAID1 configuration. The problem is that the Activity LED on my both HDD always blinks. Please note that this problem have not been decreased the server IO performance both I beleive that this problem can decrease the HDD lifetime.
Please note that the HDD activity LED blinks even no OS installed! [So the problem is not related to OS activites]
I'll be thankful if anyone have any idea about the problem.
Thanks

Re: HDD Activity LED always on [DL380G4]
Try to update SmartArray and SCSI drives firmware.
SmartArray 641 firmware version 2.58 A:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23681.html
For update SCSI drives firmware you can use
Firmware Maintenance CD 7.40

Shalom,
If the above steps don't work, it may be a hardwre call. Sometimes things just aren't wired right.
