1) Change monitor.
2) Change Cable.
3) By pass KVM (if Any)
If still no results...
4) Replace System board.
(also check if you can PING the server)

1. Have changed Monitor.
2. No KVM
3. Can ping
4. All services are up and running.
Every thing appears ok except.you cannot see any thing.

The embedded graphics card is not even in use. We have an external PCI-X card with NIC on it

I will change the PCI-X graphics card and see if that makes any difference. I wonder though how that will affect accessing the server using remote desk top

how do you know this? are computers using resources from this server?
if you have a PCI video card, have you tried using the embedded one?

Users are using resources on the server plus i used "the manager another computer on a different server to look at the state of the HP". but i can not see any thing on the display or through remote desk top
