HP 6648c L2 cache disabled

Greetings. Working on my Mother's computer the aida32pe_302 sysinfotool tells me that the external L2 cache is disabled and that this will slow down my computer. It sure does. When I check in setup it doesn't say it is disabled or that I can enable it. How do I check for sure that it is disabled and how can I enable it? Do I need to update the BIOS? A bum chip somewhere? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Michael Hansen

Michael:

You've posted this in the Proliant Server forum. Consider reposting if this doesn't correct your problem.

Check out this document concerning the BIOS Setup program:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?product=59929〈=en&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=bph07110#P88_4379

It should open up at the Advanced Menu. The third selection is Cache RAM. That seems to be the only place to set it. There should be 512KB of L2 cache on the motherboard.

BTW, there doesn't seem to be a BIOS upgrade available on HP's website.
