HP DL 585 + MSA 30, one time backup solution
I'm currently looking for a cost- and time-effective solution to back up a production server as a fallover replacement, using Windows 2003. We're running a database on the server, but don't need the content to be current. We can live with the time it takes to switch over, so a permanent mirroring/replication solution doesn't seem necessary.
I could install the same system on the replacement and do the oracle backup with some db tools, but I'd much rather have a complete backup in one go.
One issue that might occur is that the servers are of two generations (G1 and G5), I hope that won't make a simple mirroring impossible on the OS level.
