Re: okRe: HP DL180 G5 + E200 firmware upgrade

Hi,

Yes, 1.86 is the latest firmware version for the Smart Array E200 controller.

Also , latest service pack of Proliant (SPP) has the same 1.86 version as per the content report.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/doc/p1822529277/v85460/SPP2013.02.0-ContentsReportrev1.pdf

Hence your server is up to date with latest contorller firmware.

I upgraded but still see the 800GB drives instead of 3TB, I do not know why.

And where do you see the 800GB size of your drives? ACU/ORCA/Windows/LInux?

Re: okRe: HP DL180 G5 + E200 firmware upgrade

Hi,

E200 controller will support only greater than 2TB in a single logical drive. Please check if you have configured all the drives in single logical drives.

Smart array E200 offers:

Up to 6TB of total storage with 6 x 1TB SATA MDL hard drives (3.5")

Up to 2.4TB of total storage with 8 x 300GB SFF SAS hard drives

If configured only 1 logical drive, check the type and size of hard drives you are using.

Regards,

Re: okRe: HP DL180 G5 + E200 firmware upgrade

In the boot menù when create a logical drive, I see 800 gb.

I've also one P410i controller in another server and in this I see 0 byte disk.

My disk are WD30EFRX 3TB.

Mybe was not supported?

Thanks.

Re: okRe: HP DL180 G5 + E200 firmware upgrade

Renjiv,

you wrote that

Smart array E200 offers:
Up to 6TB of total storage with 6 x 1TB SATA MDL hard drives (3.5")
Up to 2.4TB of total storage with 8 x 300GB SFF SAS hard drives

I guess you viewed a quickspec. But there are 3TB also listed as supported drives for E200.

But they are not listed in "Smart array E200 offers". Does it mean that if you insert 3TB drive you will see 800GB only?

It seems to be really strange. I guess the reason is that quickspec wasn't properly updated to reflect the current situation.

Let's keep looking for a solution.

Re: okRe: HP DL180 G5 + E200 firmware upgrade

If you mean you have WD30EFRX disk not hp branded, but a WD branded - then they may work or not. They are not tested to comply. And it is a 3TB drive. And a topic began with a 2TB drive. What is the model of a 2TB drive and is it a hp or non-hp branded?

For non-hp branded WD disks I guess there is a way to try, but I need some investigation. I think I'll write you soon.

3TB and the e200i ML350

I am wrestling with this as well.

I updated the firmware to 1.86.

I plug in the 3tb drive and it shows 800gb.

I have 3 160gb drives as a RAID 5.

I have 3 1tb drives as singles, no raid.

I am trying to replace the one, or more, of the 1 tb drives with 3tb drives.

Do I have to kill the RAID 5 configuration to use the 3tb drives. Restated can I only have singles configurations on the controller if I use any 3tb drive?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 3TB and the e200i ML350

We have been reviewing this issue in regards to  3TB physical drive support for HP SmartArray E200 within HP.

The conclusion is that our quickspecs for the HP ProLiant SmartArray E200 are wrong! We do not support 3TB physical drives to be attached to an SA E200 controller. We apologize for any inconveniene that this might have caused. We are working on getting this updated and changed right at this moment.

The maximum physical drive support for SA E200 is 2TB!

I have documented this in an knowledge document with title: "HP ProLiant Smart Array E200 - Maximum physical drive size support" That should show up in the next hours on www.hp.com/go/HPSC.
