HP DL360 G2

I've received a used DL360 G2 with 2 36.4GB hard drives configured as a mirror. I tried loading Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 but it would not boot from the CD-ROM drive. I checked the BIOS and the CD-ROM is the first boot device and the first in boot sequence. The BIOS shows the Selected OS is Windows 2000. I loaded Windows XP Pro from the CD-ROM and then did an online BIOS update. The BIOS now shows the Selected OS as Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003. I still can't boot the Server 2003 CD. I tried another copy of Server 2003 with the same results. I know the CDs work on other boxes. It seems like a BIOS problem. Does anyone have any sugggestions?

Re: HP DL360 G2

Did you check with the smart start CD coming up with HP server.

Secondly, Below i am sharing the smart Start iso image URL for the same : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=in&prodNameId=3288136&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=316590&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1005#7813

You can download the smart start iso image 7.70 and try again...

Re: HP DL360 G2

Yes I did try the Smart Start CD with the same results. I even downloaded the most recent Smart Start CD image from HP and got the same results. Before this server, the oldest server I loaded Server 2003 on was a DL360 G4. Is there a hardware issue with the G2 that prevents loading Server 2003?

Re: HP DL360 G2

Windows 2003 R2 might be on a DVD. Did you check and see if its a DVD and your R2 server has a CD-ROM only? You might need a DVD drive.

Re: HP DL360 G2

Make sure you burn the ISO correctly. Boot it in a workstation first.

Re: HP DL360 G2

This is an old server; it has a CD-ROM drive not a DVD drive.
