the ROM is updated to the highest firmware. I updated it yesterday. After that it slows a bit down but my friend has the same server but much lower sound production.

Upgrade the management software for the server. Did you check the BIOS for fan settings?

was just going through the query...

Let me clarify.
1.
Removing the Fan from any system will not reduce the noise rather it will increase the noise level as Fan speed is managed by health management driver integrated with System bios at POST level and System management driver at OS level.

2. The ProLiant DL360 G3 is a 1U density line server and does not have any redundant fans.

It has Fan assembly and whole assembly is replaced in case of failure.
Processor Fan Assembly
System Fan Assembly.

So there is no chance to remove one fan from the assembly. if you do so system will not work.

3. HP has work-around for this problem and worked well in my environment
