HP DL380 G3 Problem with booting

Hi All,

I have a HP DL380 G3 server, it originally came with 2 drives. Now I have got 2 extra disks, when I install the 2 new disks, the server boots up and I use the HP smart array utility to create a logical drive.

EVerything is fine up to this stage, but the problem i am having now is that ESX does not boot into one of the existing disks, it instead boots onto the new logical drive that has been created which obviously doesnt have ESX or anything on it, so I get the error "operating system not found, system boot not found or something"

As soon as I take off the 2 disks kor delete the logical partition, everything seems fine.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue and not have to restore the whole thing from scratch and loose data ?

Thanks in advance.

Which slots are the disks in?

The OS disks...

The new disks...

The disks slots on the DL380G3 are numbered/addressed from right to left.

Re: HP DL380 G3 Problem with booting

Thanks for the response, one of the older disks is on slot 1 and the other one i think on slot 3.

Then the new disks are both on slot 4 and slot 5.

Thanks
