HP DL380 G3 and HPDL380 G4
Is it possible to swap the drives out of a G3 to a G4 without losing the OS

Yes, absolutely.
Before you do, you need to import the 6i registry information otherwise the server will just keek blue screening.
I don't have it handy, but I just recently posted a response wit hthe file attached...

Once you do this you'll likely see multiple items in device manager which don't show up correctly. I'd recommend running the latest support pack in order to get these showing up correctly.

Yes, absolutely. At the very least, update the Smart Array driver.
Once you boot up successfully for the first time on the G4, Windows will want to load up new drivers for the NIC,s, the video and several other system devices. (PCI bridges, etc.) You should be good as good after 2 reboots.
I would suggest that you only take one of the drives from the G3 if your in a RAID1 config (with 2 drives) this way you still have the old system up and running incase the first attempt does not work out well.
I have does this twice so far without any issues.
