HP DL380 G4 - differences between SCSI options duplex or simplex

Hi,

I have just configured a DL380 G4 with two RAID arrays, one 2 drive mirror IDs 0 and 1, and a RAID5 consisting of IDs 2,3,4 and 5.

Initially I had the machine set up as Embedded Duplex since we have two arrays and one channel dedicated per array can't be a bad idea, however since then I have found I need the rear SCSI connector and had to switch over to Embedded Simplex.

How will this affect my IO for my RAID arrays? Is there going to be much difference in performance between the two configurations?

Cheers

Andy

Hello Andy,

There could a performance variation since duplex configuration would have a better throughput, however not too sure if it would be noticeable.

One option may be to use io performance utility.

If you have I/O performance problem, small boot can be achieved with BBWC 256MB and adjustments for read/write, however I would still for additional controller if it goes really down, use 6400 controller for your external needs or reversed
