HP DL380 G5 Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 network issues

I have a HP DL380 G5 with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1 (now).

After installing SP2 on this server the network connection stops responding intermittently. I cant ping anything, the rest of the server is fully responsive though. I have tried HP support and I did the firmware upgrade they suggested. They even came out and replaced the whole mainboard.

Uninstall SP2 and the problem goes away. Reinstall and every few days the network connection will just drop out. Says its connected but cant do anything through it. Disabling and re-enabling the adapter fixes it for about 30 seconds then drops of again. Have to reboot the system to get it to work again. None of the event logs indicate anything going wrong. You only see errors relating to it not being able to find the domain controller etc obviously after the connections dropped off.

Anyone have any ideas on what I should do next?

Much appreciated
Jamie

Re: HP DL380 G5 Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2 network issues

hi

let me ask you. what is the proliant support that you have 7.7, 7.8 or 7.9, 7.91?

are you using Network configuration utility? if so which version?

--------

try this install SP2 and after that:

- unistall the existing driver for NIC cards NC373i
- reboot server
- install this driver
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26385.html

if the issue continues disable TOE using this command line
------------DISABLE TCP CHIMNEY -----------
Netsh int ip set chimney DISABLED

anything else let us know
regards

Installed latest PSP. Re-install SP2. Issue re-occurred.

Uninstalled NIC driver and installed recommended driver. Issue re-occured.

Disabled TOE

Happy new year it worked!

Thanks for the help.
