Dear all,
I have a hp DL380 G6 server, I want to boot it from an external DVD drive(using USB port). But I dont know how to set it. I read HP ROM-Based Setup Utility User Guide Page 20/221.
For USB Control Tab, there are 4 options:
USB Enabled,
USB Disabled,
Legacy USB Disabled,
External USB Ports Disabled
I dont know which one will enable USB port external DVR Drive?
Whould you please advise me? Thanks for your attention.

Re: HP DL380 G6 BIOS setup
Dear Setare,
I do not know if what you're trying will work (reason to doubt it will); however I have got a number of DL380 G6's and have the USB options all enabled (legacy needed, in case universal/MS drivers fail).
Quick test regime of the external ports is to plug-in a usb back-up drive, then see which ports have reasonable (USB2) transfer speeds. I used some nail polish (Blue - bought at drug store) to mark them blue.
Cheers,
Rick.

Re: HP DL380 G6 BIOS setup
Hi @setare ,
Please note that the default USB port on the server supports the following:
- HP USB and SD Options HP USB 2-Button Optical Scroll Mouse (Carbonite/Silver)
- HP USB 04 Standard Keyboard
- HP 4GB SD Flash Media Kit
- HP 2GB USB Flash Media Drive Key
The same information can be found on page 40 of the below document: https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=c04282582

SolutionHi,
Please try for Pointer 1 :
System Utilities > USB Control > USB Boot Support > Enable and check.
Also change the Removable Flash Media Boot Sequence..
Options might be different , kindy check and let us know if it was available.
Reg Pointer 2 : To find out the label of an external hard drive, open up a terminal, and use the following command. The lsblk command (list block devices) shows all attached drives. When the list block command finishes, all of the drives connected will appear in this list.
Let us know if this was helpful.
Thank you
