HP DL380 G6 - ilo3?
Hi.
Is it possible to flash the lio3 on a HP DL380 G6 server?
I have the problem that i have 4 HDD's in my server and this HDD's are not from HP. Now the server runs permanent on 78% fan speed because the ilo2 interface get a overheat error from the disk but this disk are dont overheat.
On a hp forum i read that this error is fixed at the ilo3.
I hopy anybody can help me.

Re: HP DL380 G6 - ilo3?
Version 1.65:
extract it, use the FW update on the ILO page.
But I doubt this will solve your problem ...
[edit]
Sorry, I was focused on the current ILO 3 firmware, but your server has ILO 2 only.
Don't try to install!
You cannot "upgrade" to ILO 3!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP DL380 G6 - ilo3?
The DL380 G6 has iLO2. It is a completely different chip and firmware.
You need HP Drives that provide temperature values to the embedded P410i Smart Array controller.

Re: HP DL380 G6 - ilo3?
You might try loading the HP Health driver. I know it used to help in regulating fan speeds

Re: HP DL380 G6 - ilo3?
FYI, there are VMWare drivers for the DL380 G6. Go to the drivers and downloads page for that server and select the version of VMWare you're interested in.
It still may not help... if the drives you're using aren't reporting good SMART data to the system, it'll run it's fans at high speed to make sure. It's a fail-safe in case temperature sensors aren't working, it just drives the fans at full speed.
