HP DL380

I have a NEW Dl380 server that it slower at copying files than a 6 year old Compaq server that is in production.

New Server: 3 72GB Ultra 320's, 4GB memory, 3.0GHZ Xeon

Old Server: 6 12GB SCSI HD's, 1GB memory, 2 750MHZ Xeon's

The the new server will copy a 2GB file from one partition to the other in 2.5 minutes; while the old server will copy this same file from one partition to the other in 1.5 minutes.

What is the deal?

Hi Caseyh,

try disabling hyper threading from the RBSU by pressing F9 key after the RAID controller has been detected you can enter the RBSU. It will hopefully solve this issue, however is this the only purpose you bought a new "SERVER" !!

Re: HP DL380

Hi Asif,

We already disabled hyperthreading, and it is still the same way. We did just run a test and changed the stripe size from 64k to 16k and the file copy was cut down to 1 minute! We also just realized that we do not have a BBWC enabled controller, so we ordered on overnight and it will be here today, so we will test again with that device. Right now we have 0% write cache, so we will see what happens when we get it! Thanks!

BBWC did the trick!
