HP DL580 G5 SERVER AND MSA60 STOARGE HARDWARE CONSOLIDATION

Hello,

Our company is planning to buy 2 sets of HP proliant DL 580 G5 server and 2 sets of MSA60 storage. Our plan is to use it as an exchange server(both) and to consilidate two box with the MSA 60.

Questions:
1. Will it be possible to do the hardware consolidation in both servers with the MSA 60 attached to the server(for redundancy)?
2. If it's possible, how?

Hi

The MSA60 cannot connect to two servers at the same time.

The dual domain module allows the MSA60 to have redundant connection to the same server. IE you can add two p800 controllers to a server and have redundant connections from the server to the MSA60.

There is another storage enclosure called the MSA200sa: www.hp.com/go/msa2000
This enclosure can be attached to two servers with redundant connection or four servers with single connections.

If that's the case it means i can't consolidate the two servers with one storage(MSA600?

But i read one article from HP website, it says:

"Server consolidation
â ¢ Scalability, availability and built-in serviceability make the DL580 G5 Server the perfect platform for server consolidation solutions and virtualisation".

So i'm confused, how it will going to work?

What are you trying to "consolidate"?

Server consolidation and virtualization pretty well go hand in hand. Are you planning on moving several physical servers or server operations onto one DL580?

server operations onto one DL580? - We are planning to consolidate the two servers using exchange 2003, if one server fails the other one will automatically pick up. Is it possible?
