HP DL980 G7 Overheating issues reported by iLO

Hi everyone,

I'm facing strange Integrated Management Log entries related to system overheating:

Informational - Automatic Operating System Shutdown Due to Overheat Aborted
Repaired - Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat Condition
Repaired - System Overheating (Temperature Sensor 4, Location CPU, Temperature 78C)

I've found out that this was a known issue of older versions of iLO firmware but now we are on:

iLO Firmware Version 1.80 Jul 11 2014

I've also powered off the affected server and also performed an iLO reset but entries are still appearing.

We have several identical servers (same iLO FW release) but this one is the only server affected by this problem.

What can I do?

Could an iLO FW upgrade fix this issue?

Thank you in advance,

Regards.

Hello,

update all firmwares in your server - bios, ilo, etc. If problem still persists, it seems you have real problem.

Hi Jan,

thanks for replying.

Yes, unfortunately it seems an hardware related issue since a complete FW upgrade using SPP didn't fix the problem.

I'm gonna open a case to HP.

Thank you,

Regards.

Hi Jan, HP replaced affected CPU and issue is gone.
