HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition with Prolinat Gen8

I'm pretty new to HP servers and trying to get my head around the tools and utilities available.

I want to use the HP Insight Diagnostics Online tool so I don't have to bring the server down and the documentation that comes with the servers says that tool is included in Proliant support Pack which is in turn on the SmartStart CD.

However I have a Gen 8 server and I have just read there is no more SmartStart CD and instead tools and utilities are contained on a flash chip on the motherboard and can be accessed via F10 on boot. This obviously requires bringing down the server which I don't want to do. Is there any way to use the online tool from within the OS (which is Server 2012 R2)?

Hi,

Its always advised to perform diagnostics when there is no OS loaded.

But for some reasons you cannot bring the server down, then you may download HPS Report for Windows OS and perform the diagnostics.

HPS Report gathers information from installed Hardware, firmware and Software.
