Hello. I have been having some strange issues with my DL380 G4 running Windows 2003 and Exchange 2003. I would like to run some diagnostics on the machine. I have HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition installed on the machine. Am I correct to assume I can run the SMART ARRAY DRIVE DIAGNOSIS in HP Insight while Windows 2003 is up and Exchange 2003 is running? Would it be safer to stop the Exchange Services first? Thanks. Corbin.

Solution
Hi Corbin,
If HP Insight Diagnostics for Windows (Online Edition Version 6.51 through Version 7.50) is executed on a ProLiant server configured with any Smart Array Controller, background processes will be temporarily disabled on the controller and will not resume automatically after exiting the HP Insight Diagnostics application.
The following background processes are temporarily disabled:
* Drive Rebuild. Rebuild of replacement or online spare drives in a fault-tolerant configuration will be paused until background activities are re-enabled.
* Capacity Expansion or Capacity Extension operations will be paused until background activities are re-enabled.
* RAID Migration or Stripe-Size Migration processes will be paused until background activities are re-enabled.
* Surface Analysis (Automatic Reliability Monitoring) will be paused until background activities are re-enabled.
* Performance Monitoring (M&P) activities will be paused until background activities are re-enabled.
* Drive LED Updates, Drive Status LEDs may not be updated and may not reflect the correct drive state until background activities are re-enabled.
* Drive and Enclosure Temperature Monitoring will be paused until background activities are re-enabled.
Please Note:
Running ACU after running Insight Diagnostics will re-enable this background activity and will thus re-enable all of the above.
Hope this answers!!!!!

rmn
