HP Insight Server Agents fail to start
After upgrading the management agents on a very large amount of servers (All running Server 2003 R2 SP2), most of them fail to start the HP Insight Server Agents on startup. The event log shows:
The HP Insight Server Agents service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s).
If I try to start the service manually, I get the following error:
Could not start the HP Insight Server Agents service on Local Computer
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.
Futhermore, WMI seems to have issues with the agents:
Faulting application wmiprvse.exe, version 5.2.3790.4455, faulting module HPWinHostedEthernetTeam.dll, version 2.4.0.0, fault address 0x00005f70.
We have tried manually uninstalling the agents, rebooting the server and re-installing the agents - all with the same result.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance! If this is the wrong forum for agent issues, please direct me to the right location.

Re: HP Insight Server Agents fail to start
What Smartstart are you using? Which server? and how are you upgrading the Agents?

Re: HP Insight Server Agents fail to start
Re-deploying the agent from SIM works in some cases. In others, the install appears to have worked, but the Server Agents still fails to start.

Re: HP Insight Server Agents fail to start
if you want to use wbem, maybe you could try to change wbem in systems management hompage to snmp restart the service and then switch back to wbem and see if that will help.

Re: HP Insight Server Agents fail to start
I know it's a long time ago, but did you manage to get the agent started and, if so, how?

Re: HP Insight Server Agents fail to start
I had the same problem when I try to install in Windows Server 2008 R2.
Install SNMP service using server manger under the Features, it will fix your issue.
