Re: HP ML310 G5 Tower Server - RAID Controller
I found in the technical doc, it has built-in Embedded SATA with integrated SATA RAID 0,1 controller.
Looks like I don't want to buy the controller and I can use the exisiting controller to setup RAID-1,
Am I correct?

Re: HP ML310 G5 Tower Server - RAID Controller
Hi,
I just checked the server Specs and this server models comes has 2 different controllers. HP SC40Ge SAS HBA with RAID (in PCIe slot) (SAS Models) & Embedded SATA with integrated SATA RAID 0,1 (SATA/SAS Models). And, as per your information, the cable is connected to mother board hence the controller you have is SATA/SAS models and Embedded SATA with integrated SATA RAID 0,1. This models supports RAID 0 and 1. And you need to enable to RAID controller in RBSU.
Configuring the embedded SATA RAID feature:
- During boot press the F9 key to launch RBSU
- Select Advanced Options>Embedded SATA RAID>Enable RAID.
- Press the F10 key twice to exit RBSU.
- After the system reboots, press the F8 key to enter the HP Embedded SATA setup utility.
For more information and detail steps refer the User Guide page number 50 for Configuring the embedded SATA RAID feature.

Hope the above inforamion useful.

Re: HP ML310 G5 Tower Server - RAID Controller
HI Murali,
Thanks for your reply, I want only RAID-1, in case one harddrive failed I can simple replace and run the business.
I think, this server supports non-hot-plug SATA hard drives. but it has has 4 bay hard drive cage p/n 451781-001, I am not sure, can I do the hot plug if I enable the raid in RBSU and setup RAID-1?

SolutionAs per the ML310 G5 Server Spare Parts list this server Hard drive cage with hard drive backplane part number is 459191-001 and it is hotplugable.
In the hot plug procedure if more than one drive is installed and configured with a RAID 1 or better configuration you can remore the hard drive when server is running.
