HP NICs using 802.1q/VLANs w/ Cisco CAT400

I have been successful in setting up an Etherchannel from an HP NC7170 dual port Gb NIC to two ports on a Cisco Cat4003. All of that is in the DEFAULT VLAN. Now, I want to segregate about 20 switch ports, including the aggregated ports, into a separate VLAN. I have not had success. I use the HP Configuration Utility to invoke 802.1q encapsulation and establish the VLAN name and ID; I establish the same VLAN name and ID on the switch and enable 802.1q trunking over the Etherchannel. QUESTION: Must I also enable 802.1q trunking over every port in that VLAN in order to get this to work. Cisco's no help; they just say "read the docs." Surely somebody has done this before. I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Tx, J
