HP Network Config Util (v10.10.0.0) - Crash after upgrade (380 G6 on 2008 R2)
I'm reporting a crash that occurs when upgrading the HP Network Configuration Utility to v10.10.0.0 for the DL380 G6 server running Server 2008 R2 with the Hyper-V Role.
It is reproducible.
On a server running v10.00.0.12, there are 2 or 3 teams set up. 1 contains VLANs. Upon upgrading to v10.10.0.0, clicking on a Team in the NCU causes a crash (without an error message).
The Individual NICs on a team can be clicked on, but not the team itself (without crashing).
Uninstall the HP NCU and re-installing 10.10.0.0 works, and crashing is no longer seen. However, teams must be re-created 'from scratch' again.
Others have experienced the same bug (as mentioned on the hyper-v.nu blogs) but I was unable to find anyone here report it.
Thanks,
- rp

Re: HP Network Config Util (v10.10.0.0) - Crash after upgrade (380 G6 on 2008 R2)
Simply navigate toâ ¦
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Find the key (folder) that represents your NIC Team (for example 0012), which you can find by looking for the â TeamNameâ value under each key until you find your team.
Create a new String value (REG_SZ) called:
VLANPromiscuous
Set it to 0 (disabled/default) or 1 (enabled).

Updating NCU to 10.20 without NIC drivers is not enough!

Re: HP Network Config Util (v10.10.0.0) - Crash after upgrade (380 G6 on 2008 R2)
When we install broadcom driver 6.0.22.0, the NICs fail to start. The only way to get them to work again is to dissovle the team, reboot and then re-create the team....
Anyone else seeing this???

Re: HP Network Config Util (v10.10.0.0) - Crash after upgrade (380 G6 on 2008 R2)
Registry fix provided is correct as it had worked sometime back in my environment as well. however, I found HP Doc which helps understand the reason for this behavior on server 2008 with hyperV and gives the specific requirements and installation sequence for NCU on windows 2008 with Hyper-v
I found it quite useful...
Using HP ProLiant Network Teaming Software with Microsoft® Windows® Server 2008 Hyper-V or with Microsoft® Windows® Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V

Re: HP Network Config Util (v10.10.0.0) - Crash after upgrade (380 G6 on 2008 R2)
HP released a 10.20B, but nothing in the release notes suggests that it has fixed this issue. I take it that HP doesn't recognize that this is actually an issue?..
Would be really nice to get a comment from HP.
