HP Network Configuration Utility

Have a DL380 G5 with 2xNC373i running w2k3. Tried to update the network configuration utility and have not been able to. Updated the network card drivers 3.0.5.0. Removed the network cards from device manger, rebooted still will not install. Also installed 7.80. Removed the network configuration utility. Still no joy. Comes up with "The installation procedure did not complete successfully. An error occurred during the setup process." The cpqsetup.log just says it did not install.

Any thoughts appreciated

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

Did you try copying the network configuration utility component by itself to the server desktop and then running it?

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

Do you have functioning network cards first? Link lights and visability of the cards in the OS? My experience is that there has to be some functionality and visibility of the components in order to get the utility to work fully.

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

Have you tried installing in safe mode? Won't work if it uses Windows Installer though...

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

I have tried downloading and uncompressing the network configuration utility and running cpqsetup.exe and still the same error. It does though check the network card to see what version the driver is as I installed an older network driver version and it said that the utility would not be available until the driver was updated. Both network cards are working. I have even done a bios update on both cards. I will try installing under safe mode and let you know if that works.

Much appreciated

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

Safe mode and safe mode with networking didn't work as the error was could not find any HP network cards.

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

first why kind of error you got?

try following this order OK

go network connections, in network control panel(you see different protocols ip, ipx, ...) unistall Network Configuration Utility for the NICs

in device manager remove both NICs

reboot the server

install the latest drivers for NICs

install the lastes NCU

Run the latest firmware only if this is necessary

now try configure the cards

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

Attached is the print screen of the error when I try to install the network configuration utility. The cpqsetup.log says

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup Session Beginning 6/5/2007 - 10:43:19 AM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Command Line Parameters Given:

Beginning Interactive Session...

Name: HP Network Configuration Utility for Windows Server 2003
New Version: 8.60.0.0

The software is not installed on this system, but is supported for
installation.

The operation was not successful.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
End Session
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I removed the utility via the network control panel, I removed both network cards via device manager and restarted the server. The server detected the network cards, reinstalled the lastest network card drivers 3.0.7.0 (cp007290.exe). Tried installing 8.60 (cp007172.exe) network configuration utility and it will not install.

Re: HP Network Configuration Utility

Hello,
i can update HP NCU, and i have made this like you are trying.
One first question, for uninstall this sw, in "add or erase programs", it doesn´t appear, and to you?.
My problem is the following, but i have just opened a new case in this forum, if you want to readed there. His subject: "ping: request, no request...".
PROBLEM:
When starting the servers, the connectivity with the wan or the net-lan, I want to say the ping â t www.google.com or ping with my place of vpn doesn´t work, when pass a time it works a time, after other minutes again doesn´t work, and so.

To uninstall the HP NCU go to start -> Settings -> Network Connections. Right click on one of the network card and select properties. Under "this connection uses the following items", select the HP Network Configuration Utility and click uninstall.

The problem I am having is that the utility is removed and now I can not reinstall it. I don't know why. The reason why I uninstalled it was that the server was blue screening continually. Since we have removed the NCU, the server is now stable and has not blue screened since it was removed. The network connection is fine. Can ping any address and can ping from any workstation.
