HP P440 arrat controller unassigned disk automatically converted to spare?

Hi all, 

A quick question, we have a Gen9 HP server with a P440 array controller, there are 5 disks present in the server, we build a RAID 10 with 4 disks, and one disk has remained as unassigned. In the case of a disk failure from the RAID , will the unassigned disk be used as spare are rebuild the data from the broken disk?

Define it as a spare.

Then set the spare activation mode to either failure or predictive and the spare management mode either to dedicated or auto-replace.
