HP PSP automatically configure components.

Hi,

So far we have been running Windows Server 2008 R2 on our DL380 G7 servers.

But now we are about to upgrade some of them to Windows Server 2012.

I was looking through the document "Implementing Microsoft Windows Server 2012 on HP ProLiant servers".

So far I have installed Windows Server 2012 using the media and installed the SNMP service (but I have not done any configuration to the SNMP service yet).

But I am not sure how to proceed with the installation of the drivers/utilities from the Service Pack for ProLiant 2013.02.0.

There is no problem just starting hpsum.exe and click through the wizard. But I am not sure if all the components will get configured then?

Basically what I am looking for is to configure SNMP and the HP tools/drivers/agents the same way as the SmartStart did automatically for me in Windows Server 2008 R2.

I would really appreciate some help on this.

Oh, ok.

But how do I configure HP SUM to use CIM?

When I run HP SUM it says it can't install som components because SNMP is not installed.

Hi ErikD,

If SNMP is not installed before you run the SPP, the Insight Agents will not be installed since they depend on the SNMP service.

First start by installing SNMP on your OS :

• Click on Windows Key > Administrative Tools > Server Manager. • Click Manage > Add Roles and Features.

• Click Features >check SNMP service and click Next

Reboot the server and Run Hpsum .

After some playing around, this is what I managed to do.

I started with installing SNMP and looked how it was configured on a server still running Windows Server 2008 R2 that was installed using SmartStart.

But it was really good to get a confirmation I did it the right way :)

Just curious, is this how you at HP think we should configure the agents (using SNMP)?

Or should it be configured some other way, like PGTRI mentions?
