HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

hi,

i have HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server machine with 2x80 gb hdd.
when i enabled RAID and SATA in bios, after the restart, system says me that "Bios not installed", "No logical drivers found". When i press f8 to create array, the systems sayas that no logical disks found. Why? When i must configure RAID? How? In the support cd i couldn't find any support information.

When i pul floppy to install sata drivers the windows reads only one file and says that file is corrupted. this is adpachi.sys.

Please help me

Re: HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

Hi,

What type of controller is installed on the server?

If this is the Proliant DL140G2 onboard Sata controller - it does not support Raid. It is a normal SATA port, no raid supported.

Check the quick specs:

You can configure a software RAID within the OS

Re: HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

About the sata drivers you have 2 options:

Use a HP branded external USB floppy drive. Other brands my work fine but are not tested. An example of an HP external USB floppy drive would be part number F5101B.
Or

Download the latest controller drivers and burn a bootable ISO image with the Controller drivers and the OS which case, you would not require an external floppy drive. You can use nlite to do that.

Let me know if you need links

Re: HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

Hi,

Ok. What i must do now? I have NEC usb floppy. You know, when windows 2003 asks me the raid drivers i give the driver. So system sees the driver and tries to install the driver. But it stops with the file adpachi.sys. And then error occurs.

So i have 2 hdd there, and i need to configure raid 1 or 0, how to do? When i press f8 and enter to the hdd manager, system says me that no disks found. But there are already 2 hdd exits.

Please help..

Thank you all

hi

check this thread

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1172050

by the way the only cards I know that dont support RAID level is:
64-Bit/133-MHz Single Channel Ultra320 SCSI HBA G2
only JBOB

so your card support raid level

ty nlite or happy dude procedure to install the drivers required for your server and controller

Re: HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

I think there is no need to create disk with n lite. because i already have usb floppy. But problem is not with installation, the problem is about raid drivers.

I cannot believe that HP doesn't supply the disk for system start disk. How they can be agree to use third part programs (n-lite) to configure such a important machine - server.

how you explane that?

thanks.

Re: HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

The 100 series servers are entry-level servers, and to keep the costs low (as with every other product), you get less features. Other model servers do come shipped with the Smartstart CD to deploy the server.

Another thing to clarify, using nlite or other methods is not supported by HP. In fact the recommended way, is to use the USB FDD. But since many people do not want to buy an FDD, nlite option / other options are suggested in the forums. So suggestions in the forum should not be taken as recommendations from HP.

The forums are all about people trying to help each other out in different ways! :-)

After a lot of attempts, a work-around was found on forum topic:

Re: HP ProLiant DL140 G2 Server raid driver problem

The recommended option part for DL140 G2 is DC141B (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12205_div/12205_div.html#Options)

This is the recommended drive to be used with the server for optimal results.
