HP ProLiant DL380 G6 Removing and Replacing the Hot-Plug SAS Hard Drive?

installed  two 146GB 10k SAS and just showing yellow light. Is there a way to test the hard drives?

I do have a Smart Array RAID controller.  I had the two HDs at work sitting for a couple of years.

thanks

Hi,

Use  HP Array Diagnostics Utility to diagnose further..

You can run the diagnose online or Offline from SmartStart CD.

Refer HP Proliant Servers Troubleshooting Guide page number 44 & 19 for more informaion:

Re: HP ProLiant DL380 G6 Removing and Replacing the Hot-Plug SAS Hard Drive?

reboot F10 and went into the raid controller and only recognizing 1x146GB drive. But I have 2x-146GB serial scsi 10k.

no lights on the drive.  maybe bad drive now.

I inserted a third drive 146GB that I brought from work and that didn't work either and maybe that corrupted by 2nd drive.

any suggestions?

Re: HP ProLiant DL380 G6 Removing and Replacing the Hot-Plug SAS Hard Drive?

update: I deleted the logical drive and now the HP Smart Array P410i is showing my two drives.

but It only allows me to select RAID 0 and RAID 1+0.

During the Smart Array Scan, I did get a message Slot0 Drive array Disk Drive Firmware update recommended.

Maybe I should use the HP SmartStart disk?

Hi,

The SmartStart does not contain the firware components. Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) contains it.

In this instance you generate the Array Diagnostics Utility (ADU) report and check the model number of the hard drive that needs a firmware upgrade and search it in the driver download page, download and install it.

I think I found my server downloads. Since I am install ESXi5.5 is that the operating system I should select to find the smartstart or Array Diagnostics Utility?
