HP ProLiant DL385 G7 does not recognize processor
Hello World!
I recently bought an HP DL385.
This came with an Opteron 6128.
I wanted to upgrade the processor with 2 Opteron 6276, which are supported according to the data sheet.
The problem is, when I put the processors in, nothing happens. The fans start up, but not even a warning light on the front lights up noticeably. Only the power LED is green, nothing else. He also does not output a picture.
Nothing conspicuous is displayed in the ilo either. However, the data from the old Opteron 6128 is still displayed in the ilo.
If I remove the new processors and put the old one back in, the server works normally.
I already tried to do a system ROM update but it didn't help either.
I've tried all sorts of things, different RAM, no RAM (where it also doesn't show anything, strangely enough), only one processor, swapped processors, and much more. Now I really don't know what to do next.
What I noticed, however, are 8 LEDs that are labeled with port 84.
Sometimes LED7 flashes (it goes from 0-7 so the 8th LED) and when turning on the server LED 4 usually lights up.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find much about it either.
It would be nice if someone could help me.
Best regards.

Re: HP ProLiant DL385 G7 does not recognize processor
Hi,
A similar issue is discussed here in this thread.
https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-ML-DL-SL/DL385-G7-cpu-question/td-p/7075428
Here is the QuickSpecs for this server: https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/gethtml.aspx?docname=c04284499
NOTE: If two processors are desired, select one xxxxxx-L21 and one xxxxxx-B21.
Thank You!

Re: HP ProLiant DL385 G7 does not recognize processor
Hi
Thanks for your repy
I already read this post but in my case the dimm leds dont even go amber. nothing happens.
It also doesnt work with only one processor.
Maybe is this board locked!?
Some Manufacturers do this that you buy a new server.

Re: HP ProLiant DL385 G7 does not recognize processor
Hello,
I would suggest, you have to log a proper case with HPE, and share the appropriate logs for further analysis.
