HP ProLiant Extended Feature Supplement for SCO OpenServer Release 5

hi

We have SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 and there is HP ProLiant Extended Feature Supplement for SCO OpenServer Release 5 installed:

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=MTX-UNITY-I19834&taskId=135&swLang=8&swEnvOID=1068&prodNameId=342841〈=en&cc=us&mode=2&

Can someone pls explain what exactly this software is doing?
Does it optimize system performance or printing daemon lpd, or it has nothing to do with?
We would like to virtualize our physical SCO server on ESX 4.
Do we still need this software?

Re: HP ProLiant Extended Feature Supplement for SCO OpenServer Release 5

hi,

on your link is a description :

"This is a tarball containing the HP ProLiant Extended Feature Supplement (EFS) images (VOL and BTLD) for use on HP ProLiant Servers running SCO OpenServer 5. EFS for SCO OpenServer Release 5 is a collection of device drivers that provides maximum performance with ProLiant hardware. It also includes several utilities to monitor and increase the performance of your ProLiant server."

#===
that means, that the drivers are optimized to became the best performance from your Proliant server.

#===
if you migrate the server to the VM, i would recomend to remove the HP proliant EFS for SCO, because the VM don't need to have this drivers.

check this thread from VMWARE :
