HP ProLiant ML115 G5 (470065-018) Memory Upgrade Problem

Hi

I have just purchased 2 x HP ProLiant ML115 G5 (part no 470065-018) and tried to install a 2 x 2GB Crucial memory upgrade that is compatible with this server (according to crucial anyway)

It shows 4GB installed in the BIOS on bootup but when you do system properties in Windows 2003 Web Server it only shows 2GB.

I have downloaded the latest BIOS but it says my server is already has the most recent bios.

I called HP and they said they cannot help me as the memory is not a offical HP part (although the server came with a 1GB Crucial brand stick with a HP part sticker on it :) )

Can any one help ?

That's an Operating System Limitation, it has nothing to do with your memories or hardware. Windows server 2003, Web Edition cannot recognize longer than 2GB or RAM.

Check this out:

Try enabling PAE. Check docuement attached

Hi thanks for the quick reply

My boot ini now looks like this and I have done a reboot but it still shows 2GB

Is the boot.ini format wrong ?

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Web" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut/PAE

2003 web only support 2gb, you must use std or ent. for the OS to recognize more than 2gb of physical memory.

That's correct! Only recognizes 2GB. Did you try to enable the Physical Address Extension (PAE) as I recommended on previous document that I attached in this forum??

Hi there

Yes I did try PAE (Thanks very much for the instructions)

Is the format right below ?

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Web" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut/PAE

You only need to Add â /PAEâ at the end of the string and youâ re good to go

You need to add the word /PAE at the end
