HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8

When my server calls, it counts up to 20% of memory.
Then the computer screen remains black. The Server remains on and the fan is running.
I recently updated Bios.
How can I go back to the settings and compose the Bios.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Hello Msperidiao,

Thank you for posting your query.

As per the description, the server counts up to 20% of memory and then remain black.

So does this mean that there is no display after a certain point? or it just gets stuck at 20%?

I would appreciate if you can upload a image of the screen.

Please find my suggestions below to resolve the issue:

  • 1. Power On the machine using minimum configuration which is minimum components to power on the server. (1 x CPU, 1 or 2 DIMMs in different combinations)

Quickspecs - https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=c04128120

Refer to Page 32 & 33 for correct memory population order.

  • 2. If the server is still stuck then please clear the NVRAM and power ON the server again with minimum congifuration.

Instructions to clear NVRAM -

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-kc0128682en_us

**NOTE - The document is for DL380 Gen9, however steps to clear NVRAM remains same across all generation only the position of the switch can vary.

**NOTE - The above document also suggests steps to activate the "Redundant ROM".

  • 3. In case if iLO is configured, please login to the iLO GUI and click on IML logs to check for any critical entries.
  • 4. If the server is under warranty, please log a ticket with HPE Support team.
