HP ProLiant ML350 G4p Server

I have got a new HP ProLiant ML350 G4p Server Tower Model(380165-371). it is installed with 2x72 GB SCSI Hard Disks, It also have two SATA Controller onboard. but when I connect A New SATA Harddisk to SATA Controller it does not detect it and start booting, Can i connect a SATA HDD with SCSI HDD on my Server.

The simple answer is no. The SCSI models do not support SATA.

Hi

When you have a SCSI Hard drive then SATA will not work with it at the sametime.

From my understanding you cant set the Sata contoller to boot - but I'm probably wrong :)

The bios might not detect the SATA card what card is it?

WORK AROUND:
If the card is detected via windows or linux you should be able to boot off another drive first and use the bootloader to locate the drive. Linux is much better at this.


Isnt there a utility to make the drive bootable? Although I dont think the drive may work with hp bios.

On some servers that I know of mainly Dell only one slot is able to be used as a secondary boot. This may also be the case. This reduces POST time looking for bios code.
