HP ProLiant ML350e Gen8 Second Processor and Fans
Hi folks,
I've recently installed a second processor in our server as well as Fan 4 into the system, however during bootup I get an error that Fan4 is not installed and the server shuts down. Anybody have this issue before? Also, are all 4 fans required for a dual proc configuration? I only have fans 2, 3, and 4 installed at the moment.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Sure this is the "e" model?
Hope this helps!

Re: HP ProLiant ML350e Gen8 Second Processor and Fans
Hi,
The HP ProLiant ML350e Gen8 Server can contain up to four fans. The middle two fans, 2 and 3, are required for a single processor system. Fans 2, 3, and 4 are required for a two processor system. Fan 1 is considered redundant and is recommended but not required. All fan slots must contain a fan or a fan blank.

Thanks Lincy,
Okay, I'm not sure why Fan 4 is coming up with 1611 missing then. I'll try and pull them out and plug them in again.
Thanks.

Re: HP ProLiant ML350e Gen8 Second Processor and Fans
I found the same information about the "p" model, but "e" model was different.
However, if you swapped already the fans and it is surely in slot 4 not 1, then the board has most likely a problem.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
