HP Proliant DL120 - Adaptec RAID Controller 2045 problem

Hi everyone,

I installed an Adaptec RAID Controller 2045 into an HP Proliant DL 120 and built an array. The system restarted after windows 2003 server installation but on reboot it starts to beep continuosly and windows does not boot. The only way to stop beeps and enable windows to boot is by pressing the ALT key. I updated the Adaptec controller with latest bios firmware but with bad results. Does anyone encountered same problem?? Thank you for any precious suggestion

Re: HP Proliant DL120 - Adaptec RAID Controller 2045 problem

Hi there,

i have nearly the same problem with a DL120 G5 and an Adaptec 2405 on Linux.

Linux will boot into GRUB stage2. Then the mainboard starts to beep about 20 times. After the menu screen, when grub boots into the kernel, the mainboard starts to beep around 1 minute continuously. After that the kernel is loading without errors ...

I've tried recompiling the kernel with edd support, installed grub2, installed grub into MBR,sda ... nothing helps.

It looks like this is a bug in the DL120 BIOS with boot settings.

But nevertheless it will boot ...
Perhaps you could boot into Windows 2003 with Grub installed as Boot Manager ?
Please remember the 1024 sector issue with the boot partition.

HP had to fix this issue immediatly !
