HP Proliant DL160 G5. Extremely noisy fans
Hi
I have 2 SERVERS HP Proliant DL160 G5 and a big and noisy problem. Extremely noisy fans.
I would like to known if something could help me.
Please I know fans are necessary, but I have a project for my old servers to be used for mining with a different and external Silent Cool system
I only would like to know how i could disconnect them without BIOS error.
Maybe doing cable bridge or other....
It's unbearable
Thanks and regards

Re: HP Proliant DL160 G5. Extremely noisy fans
You can't disconnect the fans. Make sure the cooling options in RBSU are not set to max or enhanced cooling. I can't recall on that generation server, some older systems required the health drivers to be loaded for the fans to spin down

Re: HP Proliant DL160 G5. Extremely noisy fans
Hello,
Easiest option will be to swap fan, cost around £8 on ebay. Usually when berrings go down fans are quite noisy.
446633-001 that is a part number
Kind Regards
