HP Proliant DL360P gen8 compatible memory modules
Hi, I have a problem. First of all, when I installed the 24GB memory (P/N: 716322-081) that I removed from my DL460C gen8 into my DL360p gen8 and booted it up, the screen showed error 229 "Unsupported DIMM. - System Halted!".
When I checked on the offical HPE website, it seems that DL360p gen8 is not supported. However, DL380p gen8 is listed among the supported models on the other websites (ebay etc).
I want to ask is whether the 24GB memory (P/N: 716322-081) works om DL380p gen8 or not. Also, what are the supported models other than DL360C gen8 server?
I'm looking forward to your reply.
Thank you very much.

Re: HP Proliant DL360P gen8 compatible memory modules
Hi,
Gen8 uses SmartMemory technology, where older memory modules are not compatible even though the description looks alike.
Here is the ProLiant DL360p Generation 8 (Gen8) QuickSpecs.
https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=c04128242
NOTE: HP memory from previous generation servers are not qualified or warranted with this HP ProLiant Server. HP SmartMemory is required to realize the memory performance improvements and enhanced functionality listed in this document for Gen8.

Re: HP Proliant DL360P gen8 compatible memory modules
Hello,
Please do refer the below memory matrix for Gen8 servers.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c03713800
We see that part: 716322-081 is supported only on BL660c Gen8 server.
Thanks.
