HP Proliant DL360p Gen8 Memory Speed

Dear all,

we have a new DL360p Gen8 sever with 1 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 v2 @ 2.20GHz.

The server is populated with 12 x 16GB RDIMM 1866Mhz. Memory configuration is attached.

The memory however is only running at 1067Mhz, nog 1866Mhz.

I have no idea why.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Kristof

Re: HP Proliant DL360p Gen8 Memory Speed

hello, in your configuration, all the memory slots for the processor are fully populated; but for these Xeons, maximum RAM speed is attained only with 2 dimms per Channel ( filling only 2 slots out of 3) you can look up the tables regarding DIMM speed in the quickspecs , in the memory section : http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/productbulletin.html#!spectype=worldwide&type=html&docid=14211

Re: HP Proliant DL360p Gen8 Memory Speed

Thanks, you are right, I missed this one.
So to use my memory at full speed, I'd better add one CPU and another 3 x 16GB.

So each cpu has 6 x 16GB and only 2 DIMMs per channel...
