HP Proliant DL380 G4 memory expansion

Want to replace standard memory with optional memory using the PC2 3200 Registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM Memory Option Kit. But I cannot find a part # or equivilant for it.
It states it supports " PC2-3200 Registered DDR-2 SDRAM DIMMs, 1.8 volts, 72 bits wide, and ECC ". The 72bit wide is throwing me off from trying to option 12GB for my 3 servers. I currently have 6GB installed. but need more.
Has anyone maxxed out one of these servers and what brand of memory was used ( part # would be great ).
I will be using these for a ESXi VM host servers.

Thank you

Re: HP Proliant DL380 G4 memory expansion

Thank you for the reply back. So it would appear that if I want to max out this server, then it would be best to use to get 12GB of memory:

4 GB of Single-Ranked PC2 PC3200 DDR2 SDRAM DIMM Memory Kit (2 x 2048 MB) 343057-B21

This is extremely expensive ( about $300 per 2/2gb DIMM ).
I am looking for memory that is compatible like that from HP but alot cheaper. I need 18 (2gb )DIMMS for 3 of these servers.
Any using any other type of memory in their same type of servers ??

You might want to check out Ebay & see if any memory is available. Lots of Proliant parts floating around Ebay.

Re: HP Proliant DL380 G4 memory expansion

This server is likely not under warranty anymore so going outside of HP for memory may not be a huge issue at this point. If it were under warranty I would tell you to stick with HP memory or else they will not support this configuration.

Most of the major memory manufacturers have compatibility lists which will should contain this server.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
