HP Proliant DL380 G6 buying additional drives for RAID 5

Hello,

I have a HP Proliant DL380 G6 2x Xeon Quad-Core 2.53GHz 24GB RAM 2x 146GB 10K: and looking to buy more drives to build my home lab with ESXi. I don't have a lot of server experience. Is there anything in particular when upgrading to my drives? Can I just get another 146GB 10K that fits. Does the part number need to match my existing drives?

thank you in advance

Re: HP Proliant DL380 G6 buying additional drives for RAID 5

Hi,

The two compatible 146GB hard drives are:

Option Part Number     Description

1. 507125-B21               HP 146GB 6G SAS 10K rpm SFF (2.5-inch) Dual Port Enterprise 3yr Warranty Hard Drive

2. 512547-B21               HP 146GB 6G SAS 15K rpm SFF (2.5-inch) Dual Port Enterprise 3yr Warranty Hard Drive

Based on the description, you may install the option listed first as it is a 10k rpm drive.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
