HP Proliant DL380

I wanted to know if it was possible to make this into a NAS, and if so could I get supportive operating systems this could run and work as a NAS.

Re: HP Proliant DL380

There are several versions of FreeNAS - http://sourceforge.net/projects/freenas/files/  What version have you try (8.0.2 32-bit)? DL380G3 - 32-bit compatible only. BTW, another (commecial) product -EuroNAS  http://www.euronas.com/

Re: HP Proliant DL380

Hi there, I am newer with this, I have a question about it, FreeNAS OS can be installed on HP Proliant 380p G8? My question is becouse when I install that OS, it cant recognize network interfaces, however if I install ESXi 5.5 it works perfectly.

Do you know what is happen ??

Thanks !!!

Re: HP Proliant DL380

The FREENas o/s does not have the proper drivers for DL380p Gen8 out of the box! esxi 5.5 does!

Re: HP Proliant DL380

Go to the freenas website and figure out how to add in network drivers that aren't included with their default install.

The Proliant DL380 Gen8 comes with a couple different NIC options, like the Broadcom NIC or possibly Intel, so look at what you have and go from there. Take it to a FreeNAS forum with any questions because people here probably don't have the answer you need since it's OS specific.
