HP Proliant DL580 G2 CPU replacement

Hello there!

I've currently 4 pieces of 2.5Ghz Xeon MPs in my server, but I wish to upgrade them.  I've already obtained 4 "new" CPUs, but without heatsink.  I want to remove the heatsink from the old CPUs and apply them on the new ones, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an easy task. The CPU and heatsink together looks like this:

Spoiler

As you can see, there are 2 notches which keep the CPU together with the heatsink, but pushing them apart won't release the CPU for some reason, and I don't want to apply larger force because I'm afraid that I may damage the components. Any ideas how could I separate the CPU and the heatsink?

Thanks!

hi,

The probelm here is that the CPU and the heatsink are one part. They come together and are not designed as separate parts.

"You do not separate the heatsink from the processor for any removal procedures."

Thanks
