HP Proliant DL585 G5 Very poor performance
Greetings,
Our customer recently acquired two DL585 G5 with the below specs:
2 x D Opteron™ 8354 Quad Core Processor 2.20 GHz
64GB RAM
8 x 250GB 5.4K SATA drives.
HP Smart Array P400/256 MB Controller with BBWC
The customer complains that whenever he tries to install OS (windows or RH Linux) the process takes a very long time, even when copying files and folder or creating them it takes over than 10 minutes.
is the problem with the HDDs or the Array controller.

Re: HP Proliant DL585 G5 Very poor performance
Chadi,
How are the drives configured in Smart Array?
Only if each HDD are used individually & have different partitions you can try to see which HDD is having problem.
If more then one or two HDD have problem, then you can be sure of Smart Array having issue.

Re: HP Proliant DL585 G5 Very poor performance
Hi Logapriyan,
The drives were first configured as RAID5. Thenfor the sake of testing, two drives were configured as Mirrored and the rest as RAID5, however, the problem still existed
