HP Proliant ML350e Gen8 and noise. Customer is very disapointed.
Hi all.
We suggested to our customer a server HP Proliant ML350e Gen8. The server is placed in the same room with users. But users claim to very strong noise. This server is carring 2 fans. We found noise specification about 28dB-A in operating mode for a 23°C ambient environment. But it's not true. The sound stronger than 28dB. We installed "VMWare for HP" on this server.
What we can suggest to our customer?
May be we need to replace this server or spare parts (fans)? Or, maybe we need to add additional fans to the server (it can carry up to 4)?
Any ideas?

if you add more fans, they would run slower. That should reduce the noise (and increace redundancy).

hi,
Please update the iLo FW and the BIOS and check if the fans are still so noisy.
Thanks
